APIIT began in 1993 in response to the Malaysian Government's initiative to address the critical shortage of IT professionals in Malaysia and the region. Since then the Institute has grown from being a successful local player in Malaysia to an established major regional player, with activities and overseas centres in India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. UCTI and APIIT programmes are approved by the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia, and are designed according to specifications set by the National Accreditation Board (LAN). APIIT is also an approved training centre of the Human Resource Development Corporation (HRDC). Asia Pacific University College of Technology and Innovation (UCTI) is a University of the 21st Century. Located inside Technology Park Malaysia in Bukit Jalil, the location of the the University is just opposite to National Sports Complex known as MSN (Majlis Sukan Negara) and is 15 minutes drive from the city centre, KLCC (Petronas Twin Towers). The University is with in reach through local train system (LRT) and 5 minuted drive from Bukit Jalil LRT station, Bus (Rapid KL) and taxis. Carrefoure Hyper Mart, Central Mosque and Sri Petaling central Market, fall with in 15 minutes walking radius making it easier for students to fulfil their daily requirements  APIIT programmes are designed by Staffordshire University UK which completely moderates the programmes and award its degree upon successful completion. UCTI programmes are designed by its own faculty and academic board and are quality assured by Staffordshire University Uk, which also award its degree in association with UCTI making it a Dual degree programme, a student recieve two certificates upon successful completion.  APIIT & UCTI together offer more than 60 programmes at Diploma, Degree and Masters levels.
